Dance Party

Yesterday was Shati’s daughter’s birthday, so last night she had a party for her. We were all invited along with class 2, 3 and a few of the other children. Lauren, Chantel, and I were there when we were supposed to be. Then Bob and Kerri arrived. While we were waiting for Mr. and Mrs. Waid to arrive (which honestly seems to be getting routine!! Lol) Tuli teacher (the second grade teacher, who seemed to be in charge of the entertainment) suggested we do a talent show type thing. So first she got the boys go up and sing a song while doing the motions, it is a song about fruit salad, and the motions are funny anyway, but the boys really exaggerated them so it was even funnier. She then got Metali (one of the class 3 girls) to go up and recite a poem, then Hannah (class 2) to recite a memory verse, and then Sherry (class 3) to dance. Now this started the whole thing I think!
After Sherry was done, Tuli teacher decided to play a variation of musical chairs. This variation did not involve moving around at all. It only involved passing a balloon until the music stops and then whoever ends up with the balloon must go up and do something. Well the person in charge of the music purposely stopped it on Bob. He wasn’t sure what to do and all the kids suggested he dance, he adamantly said no and suggested he play the piano instead. They all agreed so he went over to the piano and started to play chopsticks! When he stopped Tuli suggested that if he was playing piano, Kerri should dance. If I had been her, I don’t think I would have agreed, but Kerri said ok and went up there and danced away. It was hilarious!! The Waids came in after that, but we still had someone else to wait for, so the game continued. Kerri and Bob were coerced into playing and dancing again. Then the Waids came and were persuaded to dance as well. So Mr. Waid took Mrs. Waid’s hand and started waltzing with her. It was kind of cute! Then Lauren, Chantel, and I were convinced to dance something so we danced the chicken dance. I don’t really know it so I was just watching them out of the corner of my eye the entire time, but worked out and the children all loved it!! Lol We were still waiting for some people to show up, so we all were able sway Pomwell (the pastor) and his wife to dance. It was really quite cute! At first they weren’t quite sure and then they got into it and he spun her a great deal, it was cute! We then were able to persuade Popri (class 3 teacher) to dance and Tuli joined her. They did a more native dance, it was very pretty to watch! After that the people we were waiting for showed up and we sang happy birthday and took pictures. We then ate the cake, ice cream, and some snack food. It was all very delicious, but I ate way too much and woke up couple times during the night not feeling too well.
